Cobscook Monitoring Network

We collect water quality samples to assure safe shellfish consumption; analyze water samples for the presence of phytoplankton, including those that cause Red Tide blooms; and facilitate replacement of failed septic systems. We work to establish baseline data for the Bay. One example is a study with the Passamaquoddy Tribe of 13 heavy metals and dioxin in samples of four marine species frequently consumed by tribal members.
